Our recommendation

Buy the Flow 2 Pro if you film on iPhone in native and social apps. Buy the Osmo Mobile 6 if you prefer DJI Mimo's guided shooting, want the better extension rod, or shoot on Android and value DJI's app maturity there.

Tracking architecture

The Flow 2 Pro's DockKit tracking lives in the iPhone system itself, working in the stock Camera app and hundreds of others. The Mobile 6's excellent ActiveTrack 6.0 lives inside DJI Mimo, so filming in other apps means giving up tracking. The Hohem-style hardware sensor is the third way, but between these two, platform decides.

Hardware and built-ins

Both fold, both hide tripods. The Flow's selfie stick extends to 290 mm combined reach with a smaller folded body; the Mobile 6's 215 mm rod feels sturdier at full extension and its side focus wheel is the better manual control. Battery honours go to the Mobile 6 on rated gimbal-only runtime.

App and editing ecosystem

DJI Mimo offers ShotGuides and a gentler learning path for beginners. Insta360's app offers a deeper creative suite, 360-degree pan tracking modes and stronger reframing tools. Both require their app for firmware updates, a shared industry annoyance.

Choose DJI Osmo Mobile 6 if…

  • You shoot on Android and want the most mature app experience
  • You use DJI Mimo ShotGuides and editing regularly
  • You want the sturdier extension rod and focus wheel

Choose Insta360 Flow 2 Pro if…

  • You film on iPhone in the native Camera and social apps
  • You want the smallest folded gimbal with selfie stick built in
  • You film groups and need multi-person tracking

Questions, answered

Which tracks better?

Inside their own apps, both are excellent. The Flow 2 Pro wins overall for iPhone users because DockKit tracking follows you into other apps where the Mobile 6 cannot track at all.

Which fits a Pro Max with a case?

Both fit bare or slim-cased Pro Max phones. Thick rugged cases should be removed on either gimbal to keep the clamp centred and motors unstrained.

Which is better for beginners?

The Mobile 6, narrowly, on ShotGuides and simpler modes. The Flow 2 Pro rewards a short learning investment with broader tracking freedom.
