A therapy lamp that will not turn on or looks dim usually has a power, timer, or settings issue rather than dead LEDs. Work through these checks before assuming the lamp is finished, and remember that perceived dimness is often a positioning problem, not a hardware one.

Lamp will not turn on at all

Check the power adapter connection at both ends; barrel connectors loosen over time. Try a different outlet to rule out the socket. For touch-control panels, ensure you are pressing firmly, some require a deliberate press rather than a tap. If the adapter has an indicator light and it is dark, the adapter has failed: contact the manufacturer for a replacement rather than substituting a random adapter with wrong voltage.

Lamp turns off by itself after a few minutes

This is almost certainly the built-in timer, not a fault. The Lumos 2.0 and Erligpowht default to timed sessions; check whether a timer preset is active and either extend it or disable it. If the lamp has no timer and still shuts off, unplug it for 10 minutes to reset the thermal protection, then ensure vents are unobstructed.

Light seems dimmer than when new

First, verify distance: lux falls with distance squared, so a lamp moved 6 inches farther feels dramatically dimmer. Measure your 16 to 24 inch positioning. Second, check the brightness setting; accidental touches change levels on touch panels. Third, clean the diffuser screen: dust films cut output noticeably. LED panels dim very slowly over years; sudden dimness is settings, distance, or dirt, not aging.

Flickering during use

Flicker usually indicates a failing power adapter or loose connection, not failing LEDs. Reseat all connections and try a different outlet. If flicker persists, stop using the lamp and contact the manufacturer: unstable power can damage the LED driver. For fluorescent-tube boxes (Carex), flicker at end of life means the tubes need replacement, which is a normal maintenance item.

Questions, answered

How long do light therapy lamps last?

LED panels last 5 to 10 years of daily sessions; the LEDs outlive the power adapters, which are the usual failure point. Fluorescent-box tubes need replacement every few years but the fixture lasts indefinitely.

Can I replace the LEDs myself?

No, sealed LED panels are not user-serviceable. Power adapters are replaceable; everything else goes back to the manufacturer under warranty or becomes a replacement purchase.

Why does my lamp buzz?

Mild buzzing from the power adapter is common and harmless. Loud buzzing from the lamp itself, especially with flicker, suggests a failing driver: contact the manufacturer.
