Leica Sofort 2

Leica Sofort 2

Leica design and Instax Mini printing in a refined hybrid body.

  • Film format: Instax Mini prints from digital capture
  • Sensor / lens: 1/5-inch CMOS, 2.4 mm f/2.0, 28 mm equiv.

Our recommendation

Buy the Mini Evo for the richer effects system, the print lever ritual and the lower price. Buy the Sofort 2 if industrial design, a second selfie shutter button and Leica Fotos integration matter more than the saving. Both print on identical Instax Mini film, so output stock is not the decider.

Effects and shooting experience

The Evo's twin dials deliver 100 lens-plus-film combinations in hardware, encouraging experimentation at the moment of shooting. The Sofort 2 keeps effects simpler - 10 film styles and 10 lens effects applied more sparingly - and leans on clean menus. Enthusiast tinkerers prefer the Evo; minimalists prefer the Sofort.

Design and handling

The Sofort 2 is a design object: flat, minimal, with a dedicated front shutter for selfies. The Evo is retro-styled with a protruding grip, dials and a mechanical-feeling print lever. Both weigh about 306 g and frame on a 3-inch screen with no viewfinder.

Price and ecosystem

The Sofort 2 carries a clear Leica premium for equivalent sensor hardware. Its compensation is the Leica Fotos app and brand ownership experience. The Evo app is more playful and its macro and remote functions are broader. Film cost is identical.

Choose Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo if…

  • You want maximum in-camera effects via physical dials
  • You print a lot and want the lower body price
  • You like the retro print-lever ritual

Choose Leica Sofort 2 if…

  • You value minimalist design and build finish
  • You already use the Leica Fotos app
  • You take many selfies and want the front shutter button

Questions, answered

Do both use the same film?

Yes. Both print on standard Instax Mini film and packs are interchangeable between them and every other Mini camera and Link Mini printer.

Which has better image quality?

Effectively tied. Both use small 1/5-inch sensors and the same print stock. Differences you see come from effects choices, not hardware resolution.

Which is better value?

The Mini Evo, clearly, on features per dollar. The Sofort 2 is a design purchase and should be judged as one.
