Bath gear problems are usually setup and care problems: a tub placed on a curved surface, a sling stored damp, or a stage used one growth spurt too long. Each has a clear fix, and one has a clear stop rule, because a support a baby has outgrown is not a support at all.

Tub slides or wobbles where it sits

Place framed tubs only where the manual allows: a flat counter, a sink it spans securely, or the floor of an adult tub. Dry the contact surfaces, use any non-slip feet or grips fitted, and test with a firm push before water and baby. A tub that shifts empty will shift worse full.

Sling or cushion smells of mildew

Wash it per the label, typically a machine cycle for slings like Frida's, then dry it completely, using a dryer if allowed. Going forward, remove and hang the fabric after every bath rather than leaving it draped wet over the tub. Fabric that stays black-spotted after a proper wash should be replaced.

Water temperature feels inconsistent

Fill away from the baby, swirl to equalize hot spots, and verify near 100 F with your inner wrist or a bath thermometer. Set the home heater to 120 F maximum, and treat indicator discs and plugs as backup signals, not primary measurement.

Baby looks cramped or tries to stand in the tub

That is the stage limit arriving, whatever the calendar says. Move to the next configuration in the manual, a larger tub, or the family tub with a non-slip mat, and keep the arm's-reach rule absolute. Never restrain a standing toddler in a baby tub to extend its life.

Questions, answered

Can I use bleach on a mildewed sling?

Only if the care label allows it, well diluted and thoroughly rinsed; most makers specify machine washing with regular detergent and complete drying as the intended routine.

Why does my inflatable tub lose air slowly?

Check the valve cap seal first, then seams with soapy water to find bubbles. Patch pinholes with the maker's kit; a seam split means retirement.

Is a bath thermometer worth buying?

For anxious first-time parents, yes; it removes the most common bath-time uncertainty for a few dollars and doubles as a room thermometer in many models.
