Peak Design Slide Camera Strap

The versatile sling, neck and shoulder strap on quick-adjust Anchor Links.

Our verdict

The Slide remains the most complete single strap you can buy. Its Anchor system is genuinely transformative - one strap serving every body you own, detaching in seconds for tripods and gimbals - and the strap itself is comfortable, fast-adjusting and durable. Heavy two-body professionals need a harness instead, but for the vast majority of photographers the search correctly ends here.

What we like

  • Anchor Link system detaches in seconds and each Anchor is rated to 200 lb
  • Dual adjusters let you cinch tight for walking and loosen to shoot instantly
  • Padded webbing with a grippy side and a smooth side for sliding
  • Works as sling, neck or shoulder strap with the included plate

What to watch out for

  • Anchors add small dangling cords some minimalists dislike
  • Single-point sling carry lets heavy lenses swing if not cinched
  • Premium price versus basic neck straps

What owners report: Peak Design Slide Camera Strap

Synthesized from recurring themes in long-term owner feedback.

Most praised

  • Owners love switching the same strap between sling, neck and shoulder without rethreading anything
  • The dual aluminium adjusters make one-handed cinching tight for walking and loosening to shoot feel effortless
  • Anchor Links clicking off in seconds for tripod or gimbal work is the feature owners cite most

Common complaints

  • The small Anchor cords left dangling on the body annoy shooters who prefer a clean camera profile
  • In single-point sling mode a front-heavy lens can tip forward unless the strap is cinched snug
  • Some owners wish the padded 45 mm webbing packed smaller in a tight camera bag

Who it is for

Mirrorless and DSLR owners carrying one body at a time who move between handheld, tripod and gimbal work.

The Anchor system

Each Anchor - a Dyneema-cord loop on a glass-filled nylon disc - is rated to 200 lb and clicks into the strap's Anchor Links with a positive, inspectable connection. The cord shows a contrasting wear layer as it ages, turning replacement into a visual check rather than a guess. Fitting Anchors to strap lugs, the included tripod plate and capture clips creates one carry language across a whole kit.

Carry comfort and adjustment

The 45 mm webbing is padded internally, with one smooth face for sliding in sling mode and one gripped face for shoulder carry. Two aluminium quick adjusters - a rarity; most straps have one - let you haul the camera tight to your back for a scramble, then drop it to shooting length without breaking stride. With mirrorless kits up to a 70-200mm, all-day comfort is excellent.

Limits

In single-point sling mode from the tripod plate, a front-heavy lens can rotate the kit forward unless cinched; the two-lug configuration hangs more neutrally. The Anchors leave small cords on the body that some photographers dislike aesthetically. And no single strap distributes two bodies like a harness - that is a category limit, not a Slide flaw.

Questions, answered

How often should Anchors be replaced?

Inspect monthly and replace when the outer cord shows the contrasting inner wear layer, or after any snag or cut. Heavy professional use typically means annual replacement as cheap insurance.

Does the Slide work with Arca-Swiss plates?

The included Anchor Mount plate is Arca-compatible in profile on recent versions and Anchors also attach to strap lugs, so most tripod workflows need no extra purchase. Confirm your head's clamp tolerances.

Slide or Slide Lite?

The full Slide for DSLR and full-frame mirrorless with substantial lenses; the narrower Lite suits smaller mirrorless kits. This guide rates the full Slide as the all-rounder.
