Pack and Plays & Playards
Playards ranked on safe sleep, portability, and setup speed.
A playard earns its place twice: as a safe flat sleep space that follows the AAP rules a crib follows, and as a contained play area once a baby can roll and crawl. The critical safety line is that only the flat bassinet or playard floor with its original fitted sheet is a sleep surface; inclined nappers, loungers, and add-on padding that ship in some bundles are not for sleep, and several such accessories have been recalled.
The ten playards below meet ASTM F406 and the federal playard standard, and range from the classic Graco Pack 'n Play to sub-15 lb travel cribs from Guava Family and BabyBjorn. We state bassinet weight limits, folded size, and total weight from manufacturer specifications, because a travel crib you cannot lift into a trunk is not a travel crib.
