A swing that slows, clicks, or stalls is usually telling you about load, power, or setup rather than a dead motor. Work through these checks before assuming a defect, and never use a swing with a damaged harness or frame regardless of how well it moves.

Swing slows as the baby grows

Speed settings are calibrated for a weight range. As the baby approaches the limit, the motor works harder and the arc shortens. Confirm the baby is under the stated limit, start the swing empty then add the baby, and use fresh batteries or the AC adapter, since weak batteries mimic motor failure.

Clicking or grinding noise

Check for a toy, blanket, or clothing caught near the pivot, and confirm the frame legs are fully locked and on a level, hard floor; carpet drag and a tilted base strain the drive. Persistent grinding from the housing means stop use and contact the manufacturer.

Swing will not start

Reseat the power adapter, test the outlet, and replace all batteries at once rather than mixing old and new. Many models will not start if the seat is not clicked fully into the frame or the speed dial is between settings.

Baby slides down or slumps in the seat

Stop and fix the fit: tighten the harness so the straps sit at or below the shoulders for the swing position, add the newborn insert for small babies, and use a more reclined setting. A slumped baby should be removed, not propped with loose blankets.

Questions, answered

Can I repair a swing motor myself?

No. Motors and housings are not user-serviceable on these products; contact the manufacturer for warranty support and stop using a unit with exposed wiring.

Why does my swing work empty but not loaded?

That pattern points to weak batteries, a baby near the weight limit, or carpet drag. Test on a hard floor with AC power to isolate the cause.

Is a clicking swing dangerous?

A light click from a caught toy is benign once cleared. Grinding, burning smells, or a wobbling frame mean stop use immediately.
