Baby Monitor Has No Signal (2027)
Fix a baby monitor with no signal: pairing, interference, range, and power issues solved step by step.

A monitor showing no signal usually has one of four causes: the units lost pairing, something is interfering, you are out of effective range, or a unit is not actually powered. Work through these in order before assuming hardware failure.
Parent unit shows no signal after working fine
Re-pair the units: power both off, power the camera on first, then the parent unit, and follow the manual's pairing sequence. If it worked before and stopped, the camera may have been unplugged; check its power LED. For WiFi cameras like the Nanit, check whether your internet is down, since no internet means no stream.
Signal drops in certain rooms
Move the camera away from the WiFi router, microwave, and thick masonry; all three interfere with 2.4GHz signals. Raise the parent unit higher, since signals propagate better with fewer obstructions. Remember that 1000-foot ratings are open-space; two floors of a house can be the practical limit near the edges.
Static or choppy audio
On the DXR-8 Pro, enable active noise reduction to filter background hum. Move the camera away from white-noise machines and fans, which can overwhelm the microphone. For DECT units like the DM221, static usually means you are at the range edge; move closer and test.
WiFi camera will not connect after a router change
WiFi cameras bind to a specific network name and password; a new router means re-running setup in the app from scratch. Use the 2.4GHz band if the camera does not support 5GHz, which many do not. If setup stalls, temporarily move the camera next to the router, complete pairing, then move it back.
Questions, answered
Why does my monitor beep at night?
Usually a low-battery warning on the parent unit or a lost-signal alert. Charge the parent unit fully before bed and keep the camera plugged in; most beeping stops there.
Can neighbors' devices interfere?
With old analog monitors, yes. Modern DECT and FHSS digital systems are paired and encrypted, so neighbors cannot hear you and their devices will not break your signal, though heavy WiFi congestion can still reduce effective range.
The image is black at night. Is it broken?
Probably not; the infrared night vision may be blocked. Make sure nothing covers the camera's IR LEDs, the room is actually dark enough to trigger night mode, and the lens is clean.
