Most adjustable base failures are not motor failures. They are unplugged control boxes, unsynced remotes, tripped child locks, and mattresses migrating off retainer bars. Work through these fixes in order before booking a service call.

Remote does not move the base at all

Check the obvious chain first: wall outlet power, the control box power light under the bed, and fresh remote batteries. Then re-sync the remote using the pairing button on the control box, a procedure in every manual here. On app-connected bases like the iDealBed 4i, also confirm the child lock is not engaged in the app or on the remote.

Mattress slides down or sideways

Confirm the retainer bar at the foot is installed and tight; many owners skip it during setup. If the mattress still migrates, a non-slip mattress pad between deck and mattress, or corner retainer brackets, solves it. Smooth mattress covers on smooth decks are the worst combination.

One side of a split king stopped syncing

Split setups drift when one base loses power or a sync cable loosens. Unplug both bases for 60 seconds, reseat the sync cable between control boxes, restore power, and run both to flat together. If the pair still disagrees, use each with its own remote until the sync module can be replaced.

Motor strains, clicks, or stops mid-travel

That is the overload protection working. Add up sleeper, mattress, and bedding weight against the rated capacity, 650 to 850 lb across this guide, and remove anything stored on the bed. Check nothing is wedged under the deck, a common culprit after items roll beneath the bed. Persistent clicking at low loads warrants a warranty call.

Questions, answered

How long do adjustable base motors last?

Quality actuators are rated for many thousands of cycles, typically a decade of daily use. Control boxes and remotes fail more often than motors and are cheaper to replace.

Can I replace just the remote?

Yes. Manufacturers sell replacement remotes that pair to your control box; keep the model and serial from the frame label when ordering.

Why does my base beep?

Usually a low backup battery, a pairing prompt, or an obstruction warning. The manual for your model decodes the pattern; start by replacing the backup batteries in the control box.
